The anti-gun crowd has decided that if they can't get additional gun control through with Ds holding the WH and both houses of Congress, they won't. So they've switched their strategy to the states. They'll make some gains on West Coast and New England states, those completely dominated by Ds. But we'll take back everything in between.

And it seems that for some States where ground is gained other States are losing ground. It will take something really NASTY to wake some of these people up and it's not easy getting through to people that refuse to listen. At least until something drastic shakes the foundation of their life.

Here in West Virginia a few cities and towns have had to drop their anti-gun policies after a law was passed on the state level that would cut off all of their funding if they kept them on the books. The law specifically states that they had to be within the confines of the West Virginia Constitution, which is a very strong pro-gun document. One of the communities for example had to drop its ban on open carry of a handgun as it is constitutionally protected within the state. Another law passed in the state makes it illegal for federal authorities to attempt to confiscate weapons during a crisis such as a natural disaster. If they are seen to be doing so they are subject to arrest for theft. The mayor of Charleston, the state capital, wasn't happy about these as he's a big supporter of Bloomberg's attempted gun grab.
