Books..What are you reading?

I felt this would be a good topic to start. I hope we get a lot of participation, I'm really looking for your feedback and suggestions.
I'm always looking for suggestions for paper and audiobooks that deal with history, guns, politics, self defense, survival, current affairs and most anything to do with the Constitution.
I like audio books because I can listen while I'm driving. Typically if I pick up a good paper book, I'll read it in a day. If I like an audiobook enough, I'll buy the Hardcover and read it again.
I'm currently reading/listening Bill O'Reillys The Killing of Patton. I plan on reading O'Reilly's Lincoln book next.
What's everyone else reading, any suggestions?

I just started "American Sniper"
After that I will do "On Killing" and "On Combat" by Col. Dave Grossman. I started them both and jumped around once, but never did them all the way through. I have been to Grossman's 4 hour seminar.
I would recommend "Principles of Personal Defense" by Jeff Cooper. It's short, but gives Cooper's basic ideas.
Also, look at "Shooting to Live" by W.E. Farbairn. It's an old book, Cooper says he learned from him. They even show two policemen on the cover using a "tea cup" grip, that's how old it is. It's about his lessons learned as a Capt. in the Shanghai Municipal Police in the 1930's.

I've read both On Killing and On Combat.
Really changed how I view video games affecting society.
Grossmen also has a 5 DVD set called the Bullet Proof Mind. I lost my copy, would love to buy it again and have showing at the shop on Sunday afternoons.
IT'S VERY GOOD.

I have "On Killing" and "On Combat" in my Kindle queue and a couple of Elmer Keith books on my wishlist.
I saw sites selling the Bullet Proof Mind DVDs. I would like to see that.
Read or listened to most of the books from the "Band of Brothers" fame. Most were pretty good. Especially enjoyed ***** Winters book "Beyond Band of Brothers".
I also love history, especially Revolutionary War era. Prefer authors like Walter Isaacson, Joseph J. Ellis, David G. McCullough, H. W. Brands, and Nathaniel Philbrick. Either read the books (Borders closing was a boon for getting the hardcovers cheap) or listened to the audiobooks through the library. If you get the audiobook, make sure it is the unabridged otherwise you are getting the "best of" version. Books by these authors can be a more academic and a little dry to read compared to The Killing series by Martin Dugard - sorry, Bill O'Reilly - or books by Steven Ambrose.
Currently reading "Iron Kingdom: The Rise and Downfall of Prussia, 1600-1947" because that is where most of my family emigrated from.

Good way to start a new year.
I'm going back and forth (depending on my mood) between Steven Pressman's Gates of Fire about the Battle of Thermopylae and Sharon Kay Penman's A King's Ransom, about the second half of Richard the Lionheart's reign beginning with his departure from the Holy Land after negotiating the truce with Saladin.
I, too, love history, pretty much anything Western Civilization from Rome to WWII, but most mostly US history and medieval Britain.

I've been going back and forth between the Stephan king dark tower series, and shooting to survive by Timothy Blakeley. So far I like both, and I'm probably going to add on killing and on combat to my to do list now. I've been intrigued..

As of late it's been a lot of junk zombie stuff. There are 2 good series one by dj molles. And another called the arisen series, that one is good. Just finished metro 2034, the follow up to metro 2033. Takes place in the moscow metro after a nuclear war. Full if monsters mutants and different political groups it's pretty cool

I was given Dreamers and Deceivers & Miracles and Massacres for Christmas, and a Illinois CCW book. I also have an 1000 page on SEO to read. Not sure when i'll get to any of the 4.

I have some 1st printing Ernie Pyle books that my father purchased from when he was in a tank division during WW II. Not much to them but it's interesting to read what the GI's looked forward to while fighting the Nazis. I'm looking for a reasonably priced place to have some of the books reconditioned. If anyone knows of a place, please let me know.

I finished Gates of Fire and recommend it. It was a very slow start, but some historical fiction buddies assured me it was worth persevering, and I'm glad I did. It demonstrated the underlying core, the guts, of the "band of brothers" aspect of warriors better than anything I've ever read or seen. Blew me away.
I immediately went on to American Sniper and read it in two days. Loved it.

And now I've finished Lone Survivor. Excellent--a better book, in terms of the writing, than American Sniper. Excellent description and explanation of BUD/s. The SEALs of Operation Redwings were even more heroic than the movie portrayed.
I think I'm done with military books for the moment. I need something light and fluffy.
