I didn't realize that Chicago didn't prosecute 99% of gun crimes...

But here it is... Someone needs to ask Mayor 'Tinkerbell' why that is? And what another gun law would do? Amazingly only 62 gun crimes were prosecuted in Chicago. And most of those were law abiding citizens who didn't fill the paper work out right.

Liberals/Progressives and Democrats are really clueless...

[sarcasm]It's not that they're clueless, it's that prosecuting the criminals would be "racist".[/sarcasm]

I'm always skeptical of articles, but at the same time I'd believe it. Seems like just the kind of nonsense Chicago would do..

Politicians don't directly benefit from the application of laws, just by the appearance of being tough for passing more laws.

Well, OK, maybe district or state's attorneys benefit but mayors don't.

Tell that to Rudy Giuliani who won his second term, the one when 9/11 happened, based on the crime prevention measures he instituted during his first term. Under those measures NYC stopped being the crime and murder capital of the world and it was actually safe to walk the streets and in Central Park. Those measures have since been gutted by first Bloomberg and now Bill de Blasio. It's gotten so bad in NYC that the founder of the Guardian Angels is getting the band back together.

Passing laws just to pass laws won't solve anything but a proper plan carried out by knowledgeable persons can make a difference, as Giuliani and the people he put in charge of carrying out his plan proved.
