Very true. One of the reasons we ditched cable. Can't give up my internet though. Undecided

My iAT&T cable contract just expired. I was presented with a $90 price increase for the same service. Going to try to negotiate with them this week, either the cut the bill or the cable. It's too bad because several good shows recently returned with more coming.

The ATT "retention" department found a "special deal", decreased my bill by $70. They also gave me a $50 credit on my next two bills. The sports package($10) doesn't include Red Zone, ATT scams a "premium package" ($10) includes RZ and about 20 other non sports related channels. The 2015 FB season is over in January (Bears season ends after training camp) I'll cancel both these packs and save another $20. With credits, premium and sports channels canceled it averages out to about $18 a month over 12 months this averages to a $2 a month increase rather than $90. I have 30 days to find a better deal, after 30 ATT scams customers $180 cancelation fee. All this and I watch 8-10 channels. If I cancel cable I can buy 3 new guns a year.

I got rid of "TV" years ago; over 15 years ago. I only get "high speed" internet from Comcast now. It's reliable overall, but I HATE having to contact them for anything; crappy customer service.

I switched from DSL to Cable for internet only and so far I will say that everyone has been very nice and easy to deal with. I went from 5 mbs to 60-70 mbs. Love it. Getting things rolling was a big pain. It seems like no one wants to communicate with anyone. The only thing that help was the fact the I know a few of the main guys here locally (thanks to a organization we all belong too) and they stayed on top of my order. Living in the rural area sometimes does have draw backs.

My problem is I work from home and can be logged into several customer systems at once. Speed is important, but I need bandwidth and DSL just isn't good enough.

I'm paying for 45 Mbps,. I get about 24 over wifi and closer to 40-45 with an ethernet cable. I'm still negotiating on a price change, I got most of it rolled back but not all. Going to call them again and tell the to match Comcast or turn the cable TV off and keep wifi on until I get wired for Comcast.

Yeah, the other scam is over 550 channels. The 550 includes both HD and SD channels which means 225 channel are duplicates, 5-6 AT&T, advertising channels, Delete network broadcasting (CBS, NBC, WLS, WGN, etc...) and all the other filler....

Growing up in UK we only had 2 tv channels, with a third channel for a few hours in the afternoon. Never had a problem with that. You can have quality or quantity, hard to get both. Do have Comcast now with hundreds of channels, but like everyone else the reality is I still only watch 3 or 4 channels.

Just ran tests

Right now I have 34 download and 24 upload. But when I work I don't need fast lanes, I need multiple lanes, i.e. bandwidth.
