I was looking at those cobra derringers on the RDA website and couldn't decide how I felt about the different caliber you can get. Being a small gun I feel like .22 would be better suited, but as a backup defense gun, it would be a bit under powered. Maybe the 9mm? Or the .38?

Does anybody here have any experience with these little guys?
I have the 9mm one. It's ok to shoot. Definitely not a range gun. And yes, mine is red. Smile
The 9mm was what I went to initially. I've just been apprehensive of the recoil on that! But like you said.. Is not a range gun. Used here and there to freshen up on.

I actually like the red ones best... Haha that or a standard black.

Can you change out the barrel for different calibers with the cobra?
I"m heading to the range for the first time with mine. Thanks for reminding me. I've had it for a while and never shoot it. Looking forward to it.
There is always a certain amount of excitement taking a new gun to the range! Happy shooting!
Oh, that's just to play, i'm really going to shoot the FNX-45.

I'm a little concerned about the strength of the frame. Can the alloy stand up to the power of a 9mm?
Well, I've shot mine in the bullet trap. Only 6 shots so far. Hope to keep my hand tonight Smile
I've heard those are beautiful guns! My next pistol purchase I was looking at the FNX-9... But let us know how you do with the little derringer!

But Roberre, from what I've seen the 9mm should be perfectly fine.. Obviously I haven't tried it yet... But I've seen various offerings of larger round too in magazines and such. The same thought crossed my mind though, I just figured at this point if it couldn't handle it they would have adjusted it or abandoned the concept. I'll probably spend the next hour looking it up anyway though. Haha
Those derringers are a handful unless you get a .22

Not much grip to hold on to
That's exactly what in worried about. It's between the 9mm and the .22.. I feel like if I get the 9 I won't ever use it really, but if I go for a .22 I'd be more likely to bring it to the range a little. I still feel like 9 would be the better option, especially with the defensive round choices that are available. I just don't want to murder my hands.. Haha
in the event you actually needed to use it, you will not remember how it felt when you shot it anyway. Smile
That's a fact! Let alone if I had to use it, whether I remember how my hands feels or not, that's the least of my worries... Whenever I pick one up will probably be a last minute decision, but I think I'm still leaning towards the 9mm. I should probably hit up YouTube just to get a bit of a visual comparison between the two.
Either way, you will be happy with it. They are neat guns.
wow, I need more practice with this gun. I suggest you take it to your practice rotation. I know if a tool for up close and personal, but if you think you'll shoot this like your full size carry, you'll be very surprised.
I'm excited to get one and try. How was the accuracy on it? I know they're short range, but was it reliable to hit the target?
Let's just say i was hitting paper. I was way high and left on it...
How far out did you have it? 21' or so?
yeah, 21 feet.
On paper @ 21' with those things is pretty good!
