Great questions. First off a list of powders. For 12 GA:
IMR-700x
Clays
International Clays
Clay Dot (Alliant Equivalent of Clays)
Red Dot
Promo (1970 Formulation of Red Dot, highter density so smaller bushing is used to get the same weight)
Green Dot
Winchester WST, WSF
Unique

I just got 16 lbs of 700x as it is also the powder I use in my .45 reloads that I sell. I did it by placing a backorder for it at MidSouth Shooters Supply. The order shipped three weeks after I placed it.

Before you order, look at your load data and make sure you have data, wads and hulls that all match. A good source of shotgun data for hulls like Rio, Fiochii and Chedite is Ballistic Products. BP has pages and pages of it and not much on Win-AA, Fed GM and Rem STS. Lyman is a better source there, but the BP wads as so much better in terms of performance and they are the same price or lower than what you will see for WAA12xx kinds of wads including Claybusters.

Ah ok thanks for the heads up I saw that clay dot but I wasn't sure on it. Currently I picked up a Lee 12 reloader and the Lyman book. Since I have currently a lot of AA. I have my eyes on the bp book, since hopefully soon I will have a 16g reloader which would be pretty much only fiochi

Sounds good. A Lee Load All II is a great buy. Only thing is you want to put the shot in after you know you have the right powder bushing in the bar. Its hard to unload both shot and powder to change bushings. From a BP perspective, the Lightning 078 wad is probably the right choice for AA hulls. Be careful substituting primers there are a big difference in how much fire each one makes and the initial pressure difference is corresponding high. Fed 209A are the hot boys with CCI and Cheddite being at the bottom of the scale. If you are making target ammo it probably is not a big deal but as you go up in velocity, you can bulge a barrel and not even know it... One other powder that works well for shotguns is E3. You should see plenty of data for that in the Lyman book.
