Get a palmetto lower, and a cmmg parts kit (about 60 dollars). Thats a great start. Tapco makes a decent buffer tube and spring combo for around $75. Thats your complete lower! Then worry about your upper.

That's a great start.. How about barrels, do you have an opinion with the twist? I hear some are better suited for the heavier rounds and the others for the lighter less powerful ones
He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”

I'm about to start ordering some parts for building a 5.56 ar-15 tonight. Anybody have any suggestions for parts they liked?

I have a lower parts kit, and I'm going to start of with looking at the parts Ryan suggested above. I'll see where I wind up after that!

I'd always get a mil-spec bolt. The full auto version. And then get a decent barrel. I don't know if you ever will fire enough rounds to wear one out, so price is an object. I'd only go with 1/7 twist rate, as that is best with heavier ammo.

So far all of Ryan's suggestions seem to be great. I'd consult with him on what he recommends in your price range. He knows way more than me about what parts would work best together.

Yeah so far the palmetto and the tapco parts looked good. I'll probably want around the internet for a while before stumbling back to them. Then I'll be keeping an eye out for the upper parts

Would this be the buffer tube combo Ryan was mentioning? Or at least a version of it

So far I think I've ordered everything I need to complete my lower! After I get everything in I'll follow through with any thoughts that I have on what I bought

Yep, thats the buffer tube, buffer and spring. Althoigh, you may eventually want to switch your butt stock out to something nicer. You can always worry about that down the road.

I was planning on having to buy some new parts later on.. The lower parts kit already has a grip n such so at some point later I'll get a new set to make her a little prettier. Right now I'm just waiting on the lower from palmetto to get to RDA. Pick up that and my XDm, then I can spend some time looking for manuals on putting it together!

Of course, I don't have anything for the upper yet.. But I have more to look into for that yet..

I just finished my budget AR pistol build. I have only put 90 rounds thru it so far.
Shoots great without any problems. This is my first but def not last AR build.

80% lower ($50)
Hardened arms 10.5" upper kit/ Sig brace ($415)
PSA LPK ($50)
AIM NiB BCG ($99)
Troy Ambi CH ($69)<<<not so budget on that, and should of got the Raptor.
No name BUIS ($10)<<get me by till I get some good ones.

Saving up for an aimpoint and a good light.
Sorry for the bad quality pic.

Yeah I like it! I was debating on trying to build a pistol first, but decided so far to go for the full size for my first build. I think the pistol would be next! This weekend when I sit down finally to tinker with the parts that I do have I'll make a list n pictures ect

Thanks..... I went with the pistol so I could carry it loaded in my truck legally.

Also no need for a C&R license and tax stamp because it is not a SBR.

This also allows me carry it into Wisco without any problems.

I've got another 80% lower waiting for me to mill it out. Hmmmm.....

.... 50cal beowulf? 7.62x39? .458 SOCOM? 6.5 Grendel?

I love this platform, so many options.

Wisky doesn't allow short barrelled rifles or shotguns...as of right now.

Wisconsin barrel and stock laws are in par with the NFA.

Have you got all the parts you need yet? Try the website AR Parts Finder .com also try Hamlund tactical and surplus ammo and arms. Hamlund has really good pricing and so does surplus. Surplus carries Aero uppers and lowers and they are nice units.

The only part I need is the upper. I should say parts I guess, but I haven't looked into that yet because I ran myself out of cash at the moment buying the lower parts and my XDm Angel but I will check those out for sure! Get to know some of my options
