Paul Begala, advisor to Bill Clinton said of executive orders "Stroke of the pen, law of the land... pretty cool eh?"
I'm a fairly new US citizen, but how come I seem to know more about the roles of the three branches better than the people in them? The three branches are meant to be a check and balance, not a mutual ego stroking organization. Unfortunately with recent SCOTUS decisions, it appears that they have decided its their turn to make laws from scratch.

Problem the average Joe learned about it in school as a kids, and they truly didn't understand what it meant. I think we foreigners, learning it as adults have a better chance seeing the big picture.
