I carry federal hst but havnt spent enough money to know it will cycle every time. A lot of ammo nerds will say hornaday critical defense or critical duty with the polymer tip cycles the best through any gun. Now some of the probkems ive had breakining gun is im sure is due to crappy range ammo on a fast production line and maybe a light load. The hollowpoints i have tested have never malfunctioned. Gets me over thinking if theres really nothing to worry about with a quality gun and quality ammo.

For the range I have never had any problems with Remington UMC. I have just recently started shooting Winchester Train and Defend ammo with no problems. Both shoot pretty clean. Red Dot ammo shoots clean also. I would stay away from Blazer Brass it shoots dirty.

Blazer doesn't seem too bad. No dirtier than winchester white box. Usually the price is right too. ive never had a malfunction with it and its made by cci that im a big fan of. I got a bad taste in my mouth with winchester after the 22lr i bought screwed up my fun gun.winchester admitted to running some 22lr too quick through the presses and had some problems which means their qc is half *****.. im hoping that didnt happen with their centerfire rounds too cuz pdx1 is a badass round.

It all really depends on the gun. My mosin hates sellier and belloit, but loves the corrosive stuff. The only issue I had was with rem hollow point 22 it would not feed correctly into my savage rifle at times. I have heard with some SA shotguns you need to run some heavier loads through them first to be able to better cycle the lighter rounds.

My carry guns are all m&p. Only one ive really had problens with is the bodyguard. They shoukdnt ha e put that m&p logo on it if they cant make it as reliable as the shield or 9c. Thats the onky one im worried about being oicky with ammo. I wont carry it till i get 300 flawless out of it. Only carry round i trust in it right now is critical defense. Love hst but that huge cavity is sometimes a problem for guns that are picky on ammo.

In the ammunition section I started a thread on short barrel 9mm. There's a link to a YouTube channel with a guy that does pretty good reviews of as much 9mm ammo that he can find out of a 3" barrel. He really likes the hst from federal. That's what I'm planning on sticking with. I know that doesn't really answer your question about feeding.. But the federal hst came out better than the critical defense and pretty much every other round he tested.

I'm sticking with that, and just mixing the defense rounds in with RDA ammo for testing. Do one round at the bottom to make sure the last round will chamber, two next to each other in the middle to make sure they'll feed one right after the other, and one on top to make sure when you pull that slide back, everything goes perfect. That way instead of going through 20 rounds to test, you can do 4, or 8.

This concludes my half asleep morning Post...

I've used the RDA remanufactured ammo, and I think highly of it. It's clean and in 1500 rds of various calibers and guns I have ZERO issues. It is way cleaner than Winchester white box, and the .223 was very accurate at 200 yds. That said all guns may hate a particular brand of ammo, even when another of the exact same weapon loves the brand.

Test all guns with at least 200 rds of what you plan to use in it.
