I've purchased a new Palemtto State Armory KS-47 rifle. RDA was my FFL for this buy, always a great experience. Now for the rifle. The rifle came from PSA and well lets just say it was blemished, scratches on the reciever below the forward assist. The rail had paint chips from assembly. Upon disassembly and cleaning that seemed to be the only disappointments. Taking the rifle to the range, I am saying this is a great shooting AR platform. No issues with 3 different kinds of ammo (two steel case, 1 brass). I put about 250 rounds through it and it cycled everytime. It is way more accurate than my CIA C39V2 which surprised me. It seems to not care what magazines I used (5 different kinds). At the price of $700, I think this is a great 7.62x39 AR15 type rifle. I'll give it 4 outta 5 stars. It is lighter than an AK, ahas AR controls, and seems to be quite reliable so far. PSA needs improvment in QA however. I do plan to use this a camo paint experiment, so I am OK with it.

Well I would like to introduce the newest member of my family. Nope its not a rifle or is it. Born on 3.8.19 @12:18AM my wife and I welcomed our first Grandson into this world. His name is Henry Wynn Johnson. The middle name was selected after my father, who passed away in 2012, and my brother (49) who suddenly passed in 2016. His first name was randomly picked but it is actually my GGG Grandfathers name.

With a name like Henry I had to do something special. So I went down to the nearest Henry Rifles Dealer and at bought Baby Henry a Mini Bolt Youth .22 S/L/LR rifle. Heck I don't even need to have it engraved. When I bought it, the guys at the counter wanted to know how old my Grandson was. They got a big kick out of it when they heard that he was less than 24hrs old.

When my brother found out what I did he went out and bought Baby Henry a Golden Boy Youth .22 S/L/LR. Not bad for a young lad that was not even 24hrs old.

It appears that Baby Henry will be gifted with many more Henry's to come. I can see quite a few more Golden Boys, Patriot series, Big Boy Specials, and more coming his way. Heck, we have even planned which safe we will be buying for him.

Sigh, the era of reasonable military surplus is at an end. I have been hunting for a decent K98 and have found them to more expensive than many new rifles. Same can be said for SKS and even the lowly Mosin Nagant are getting quite pricey compared to a few years ago. These rifles are in high demand. If there is any doubt, even CMP Garands now are commanding high prices. And 1903 Springfield's are hard to come by. Remember how cheap Enfields used to be, price one today. I still will hunt for a pristine SKS and K98, they just keep going up in price. A real bummer.[/b]

Welp, I purchased a new CZ 527 carbine. It comes with a single 5 round magazine. It is chambered in Russian 7.62x39mm. First thing I have done is to have a Skinner rear peep sight installed. The front post is red fiber optics. I cleaned it, and put some diamond oil on the bolt and worked it about 50 times. Didn't really feel rough, but I have a better feel for it now. I took it to the range and fired about 35 rounds through it. Seems like a tack driver. I had 2 sub 1.5 inch groups at 100 yds with irons! I think this will be a great Hog rifle. I think the quality on the rifle is outstanding for machining, fit and finish. RECOMMENDED!

I saw a sale on stripped AR lowers last weekend and by the time I got back in the house (from Costco) they were already sold out. They were stripped AERO lowers for $48.99 (free shipping). So I then saw that they had AERO stripped upper and lower sets for $98.99 each. With 7 left in stock I bought two. I still have one left in my safe but it is set for a 223 build with a 10.5" barrel. So with one of these new sets coming in I thought I would start a build with 7.62x 39.
Anyone done one of these yet? This should not be any big deal. Thoughts? Concerns? Tips? Adjustable (tunable)gas block?

I want a back up bolt gun. It will be .308. I have kind of decided on one of these two as I don't want to spend a fortune. The Mossberg uses standard PMags (a huge plus), but has a 16.25" barrel (a minus). The Savage has the better accutrigger and longer barrel (20"), but has a known issue with magazines being awful and subject to failure. Both have Peep sights which I like.

So what do you guys think? Chime in please with your opinions.

So I figured this would be the best place for this topic. I was thinking about building (or purchasing) an AR-15 Pistol in the .300 AAC Blackout. I've heard some good reviews and opinions about the round in the AR platform. I wanted to have an AR pistol and at some point down the line I wanted to equip it with a suppressor. One article I was reading claimed the 300BLK was an excellent choice as you can purchase supersonic or subsonic ammunition depending on the flavor of the week.

anyone here with experience? Thoughts? Opinions?

Our local range has a 450 yard Gong to shoot at but if we want anything over that we go out to the woods. We look for a logging site that is getting ready for Reprod (Replanting of trees) and we have all the room we need. It was fun to shoot my son's 338 Lapua but he has since sold it. Now we just use 300wm.

I received one of these loading devices two Christmas' ago. I finally dug it out and spent some time reading the instructions and practicing with it.

Anyone familiar with it or have any problems with it? Every few mags I notice a round floating around in the bottom of the loading reservoir. Oops! Now if I didn't pay close attention I don't which of the last few magazines is a round short. I end up having to unload the last few magazines until I find the one short that round. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Doesn't happen all the time, but frustrating to unload mags when it does...
