I just got the Spring catalog for College of Lake County. It offers Conceal Carry License Training CPER 40-001 and charges $299 for three sessions. Taught by a J. Jonak.

There is also an 8 hours course for those that have already completed eight elsewhere, and a 12 hour course option for those with only four hours.

Just surprised me of the irony of a college offering a class for those that can't utilize that training on campus.

Here is the boilerplate I got from Brad Schneider, me rep, regarding my support of HB38.

He calls out that the bill would allow folks to carry on school zones. The way I read it is that the bill calls out that it would still allow for individual State's restrictions as to exactly where one could carry, eg. Schools or other governmental facilities. He also believes it's up to the States to interpret the Bill of Rights as they see fit. What kind of country is this?

Dear Steve,

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. I truly appreciate your input as I work to represent you in Congress.

As you may know, H.R. 38 would allow individuals who are qualified to carry a concealed handgun in one state to do so in other states. This bill would also allow these individuals to carry concealed handguns in school zones and on federal lands that prohibit firearm possession.

I do want you to know that I oppose H.R. 38. I believe each state has the right, and a responsibility, to establish their own rules and standards for issuing concealed carry permits. While we may disagree on this issue, I believe there are many areas where we can come together to move this country forward.

Thank you again for reaching out to me on this important issue. Hearing from constituents like you allows me to be a more informed and effective Member of Congress. If I can be of further assistance to you on this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact me or my office.

Sincerely,

It's been too long since I've been on here!

There's a few parts to my question.. but essentially, I live in Illinois now, and I'm (trying) to move to Wisconsin this summer. As far as a CCW permit is concerned, do I need to consider any more fees or paperwork ECT?

The second part of this is, my lady is planning on getting her carry permit as well as soon as possible. Would she be best off getting that now? While still living in Illinois? Or going through it as out of state?

Thanks ahead of time!

I was listening to an episode (3-19-17) and was interested in the discussion about being in Condition 0 thru 2 (round in chamber) and anything else was really a waste.

I was wanting to call the show on this, but it was not live anymore. They implied that unless you carried 0-2, you'd really be risking your life -- Unloaded chamber = Unloaded gun; equals "you don't know your gun" or "afraid of your gun".

I disagree that carrying in Condition 3 is a waste. I know my gun, am not afraid of it, but understand the risks associated with complacency in everyday carry, that I'd personally prefer 3. There's a higher risk of an accidental discharge than actually being mugged. Now, if I feel I'm in a bad neighborhood, or am in a strange environment, I'd set to probably Condition 2 or higher.

Argument around what if bad guy has one arm in grip or you are shot in the arm and you can't rack your slide. They didn't mention that you can rack off the side of your leg or waste. I've practiced this and it works.

I guess this is talk show "entertainment", with certain attitudes and opinions. Too bad they took a hard stance on what they consider the "only" way to carry. I'd appreciate some time explaining the conditions and let the carrier decide.
