Availability of ammo has really made a turn around. I was just in Wally World and their shelves were LOADED. The nice thing is that the prices have really dropped to reflect so really GOOD buys out there.

My suggestion is that you buy NOW. Just even once or twice a week makes a difference. Each time I walk in there or any where else that has a good price on ammo, my wife or I will buy one to two boxes. Does not matter if it is 9mm, 40 or whatever your poison is. Just pick one or two up and you will find that your ammo supply will GROW quickly. I try to keep 3 to 5k per cal. Of course you need to consider how many pistols you may have in that cal. Buy a few ammo boxes, dump them into the box, through a few Desiccant Packets into the ammo box, label it up and close the lid. Cant beat some of the prices out there. Buy it now before the next Dumb A$$ Politician declares he is the next Stalin.

This guy is awesome. He has 3 level of classes to take. More information to come when we release our new site.

Web developer is late 3 weeks, but today should be the day we get it.

We have the dates for the NRA reloading classes, (shotgun and metallic), and will post the dates for all the intermediate and advanced classes as soon as we build up that section of the site.

Here's a pic of part of the Lab for the intermediate and advanced class.

I am posting this because I thought it was interesting and wanted to hear reaction.

First below is a post by Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat (as re-posted by Larry Vickers). Wilson took a survey on caliber choices. After that post Rob Leatham responded with a clarification of his choices and had the following to say about the .40.

What do you think about Rob being the only one to say .45, and what do you think of his statement on the .40?

FROM BILL WILSON:

"I did a survey of some of the most experienced shooters/trainers I personally know and here is the question I asked them all.

Assuming you had to buy your own pistol and ammunition (type of your choice) for combined self-defense and self-defense range training use, which caliber would you choose, 9x19mm Parabellum, .357 Sig, .38 super, .40 S&W, 10mm or .45 ACP ?

I surveyed the following and their answer:

BJ Norris 9mm
Bill Rogers 9mm
Bill Wilson 9mm
David Bahde 9mm
Ernest Langdon 9mm
Frank Proctor 9mm
Ken Hackathorn 9mm
Larry Vickers 9mm
Mike Seeklander 9mm
Paul Markel 9mm
Paul Howe 9mm
Paul Buffoni 9mm
Rob Haught 9mm
Rob Leatham .40
Super Dave Harrington 9mm"

ROB LEATHAM RESPONSE:

"To be clear, my answer was based on subtle phrasing difference of the question originally. It was self defense and range training. Later changed to self defense and self defense training after the survey. As I told Bill, I chose .40 as it is the most versatile for competition and basic range training for me. As a cartridge in general it is the worst design in the history of mankind. As the question now stands, all about self defense and training for it, I would have answered with .45."

Tula ammo is cheap and readily available but I don't recommend anyone use it. While most of the rounds maybe fine, they do have a history of having sub-par rounds making it out of the factory. I'm not talking sub-par in a dangerous way but they do let them out of the factory with below the required powder levels, which means that they won't cycle a firearm reliably. This can lead to FTE, FTF, and double feed issues. Tula can also have hard primers that result in a soft firing pin hit as well. I've had or seen these issues personally with Tula. For this reason I don't use it. If you want to use cheaper combloc ammo stick with Wolf, Wolf's WPA brand, Golden Tiger, Red Army Standard, or one of Bear's brands (brown, silver, or golden).
