I recently finished watching all the Walking Dead episodes. I had never watched them before.

There were a lot of various weapons come and go, but several were consistent with certain characters and were "their gun". Andrea had her Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith", Carl had a Beretta 92FS, Daryl had his bow, and of course Rick's Colt Python.

On a side note, in one scene Carl and Rick are shooting zombies together and Rick fired three shots and then Carl fired one. I don't know if they used the actual sound of the guns, but when Rick fired his 357 Magnum it went *BOOM*, *BOOM*, *BOOM*, then Carl fired his 9 MM and it went *pop*, it was pretty funny.

Anyway, here is my question. You are thrown into the Walking Dead and you get to take one pistol and one long gun (rifle or shot) that you currently own. These will be "your guns".

Which do you take?

Alright since I am thinking about my bug out setup that I am working to put together got me thinking. If you are working on a plan that includes multiple adults how do you create your plan. Do you setup packs for each person to be individually sufficient or do you pack as a team. For example do you create a pack for each person with each pack consisting of food, clothing, shelter, etc.... or do you pack as a group with each carrying different things. Instead of single man tents pack multiple person tents, etc.....

I am thinking the single man packs idea would be best if something were to happen you wouldn't find yourself in a situation alone without gear but what are all of your thoughts?

Alright I have decided that I want to start putting together my Bug out pack. I think I am going to look for two different packs one for summer and one for winter. I really don't want to have to deal with repacking very 6 months. I would rather have everything set and ready to go.

For those of you that already have packs what do you have? What do you like and dislike about them? As a former Marine I am very used to carrying large amounts of gear on my back so pack size really doesn't matter to much to me. Clearly I will need a larger pack for winter then I will for summer. I am currently trying to create a plan and location so amount of food/gear will be determined shortly once I get that all figured out but figuring a pack is a good starting point.

For your BOB, do you prefer 45 acp, or 9mm? I've been wondering this just for how much space the ammo for each take up. I haven't actually made a BOB yet, but I've been planning to and haven't decided on what all I'd like to include as far as a side arm, or even if I do want to include one (just stick with whats in EDC + extra ammo). But from what I've been comparing, given limited pack space, the 9mm may have the advantage. I plan on having my 45 as an EDC, but I may decide on a 9mm for the BOB.

Anybody else have an opinion?
