That is the reason for FOID cards to add time to purchasing a gun, in the hopes you don't...

But, Illinois is sneaky smart in how they do it. The are clearing the person. They in effect are not denying anyone's right to own a gun. They are no registering weapons, they don't require anything besides a clean record.

And by taking 4 weeks to do it, they are delaying the purchase. Waiting periods serve no useful purpose either. There is ZERO evidence this stops any crimes.

The real problem is liberals/socialists/communists FEAR people being armed, as you cannot steal from them as easily as the unarmed. Imagine armed robbers trying to take half your paycheck and then trying to divide up the loot with their voters? Would you turn it over so easily if they were not armed?
