About 30 years ago I worked for an old man from Hungary. He experienced both the Nazis and Soviets (btw, he said the Nazi's were not as bad compared to the Soviets for cruelty), in fact he spent tow years in a Russian prison for trying to leave. He eventually got out and made his way to East Germany and then got over the Berlin Wall with his wife.

He once told me the secret to a good marriage was to put aside "your" hobbies and "her" hobbies and find things you both like to do together.
