I have an original HK91 (pre-ban) that is one hell of a rifle. I am always comparing the PRT-91 to it. When PTR started making the clones they were of dubious quality. Today I feel they are nearly as good as the original. They are accurate, tight and more reliable than an AK47. The have their own 'character'. Some hate the ergonomics of them. Some hate the bolt not staying open on empty magazines. Some hate that maybe 10% of the brass is not reloadable. it's still a great choice for a MBR.
That said IWI makes some really great rifles. The Tavor is one such weapon. We live in an era of so many great choices for SHTF weapons. Given my choices in .308 rifles for SHTF right now, I lean to the Ruger SR762. Lightwight, accurate, hard hitting, reliable, piston driven, common magazines (Magpul SR/LR308). If I had to rank them in order... SR762, HK91, DPMS, Garand (in .308)... followed by bolt guns...
