The only drawback was the pace was a little fast as they transitioned through the earlier parts. Not a lot of character development or personal growth development of Kyle.
Done perfectly it would have been a 4 hour movie. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot got edited out.
I am very curious, Ringo, to get your reaction not having read the book first.
Sharz (my wife) and I had the exact same reaction. We were effected under the hood somewhere that I am not even sure what yet. I read Glen Beck's reaction and almost cried. Yeah, I know, sounds a little odd. And none of that was apparent until the end.
