I guess it's my turn to answer my own question.
I don't own a lot yet, so my choices are few, but still hard.
If we are talking zombies Believe makes a good point with volume. So my XDM 5.25 would be the choice for that. I already had a full size .45, so I bought that in 9 MM. With the 3 free mags Springfield gave out last fall, I have 6 at 19. With one in the chamber, I can start with loaded mags of 115 rounds. Not bad.
However, it would be very, very hard to leave behind my Springfield 1911 TRP in .45. Although I don't own a lot, I have rented and shot a lot and nothing feels as good shooting or as accurate as the TRP. Add to that this was the gun Chris Kyle chose as his only sidearm in battle (if a SEAL sniper choosing your gun doesn't give you a gun hard on, nothing will
). Take the round count out of consideration then the TRP would be my choice.
I only have two long guns. One is the Mossberg 12 G flex. With that I have the breacher barrel and a long barrel for clays. The breacher front is a serious weapon by itself, so when the shells are gone it is still usefull.
My other is a Mosin. It's a heavy sucker, but given it's history (i.e. was there any place in history more like the end of the world than Stalingrad in WWII? ) it would hold its own. Add that the butt stock is pretty much a sledge hammer, and if any gun could handle smashing skulls this is the one. Also, the 17 inch bayonet is not only designed to stab through anything but also leave a hole hard to patch (you gotta love the Russians for coming up with ways to tear people up). When the ammo is gone you still have two useful weapons.
So I guess I do the Mosin and XDM 5.25 for zombies (still crying while the 1911 TRP stays behind), and I take the Mossberg and the 1911 TRP for general bugout.
