Hmmm... I am thinking a 2 shot derringer type is really an up close and personal weapon. With only 2 smaller caliber shots, would you even draw it unless shooting already started? I'd be afraid with that weapon I might miss at 15 feet in the heat of the moment. It's certainly not enough gun to bring to a gunfight. At least with a 380 you have more rounds and I'd always bring that.

I don't think I'd go the revolver route for CCW. In summer, all weapons are harder to conceal. Criminals are not stupid. They can check people out for concealed carry. You are marking yourself as a definite target at times, like an officer in uniform is.

If you are going to carry, carry enough gun for a gunfight. Just my humble opinion.
