On a manual bolt gun like a Mosin, I am not so sure I would worry as much how recoil would effect an optic. On a semi-auto where a gas system recycles the bolt violently, I think you need to be more concerned with durability and look for military grade optics designed to handle this cycling.
I own a Mosin-Nagant, and it does kick like you would expect from a 7.62x54R cartridge. I am still a purist at heart and would look for what was actually used on the rifle.
