You learn a lot about how to look at and interpret data... like why slower burning powders work better under heavier bullets. Helps a lot when you see 5 powders in the list and you happen to have three of them on the shelf and don't know which is best. Secondly, there are a lot of tricks out there. Where and how to get components, how to safely substitute primers, what's up with crimping or not crimping, and how much is too much crimp... and in the rifle world, how can I make one simple adjustment that assures totally straight ammo (less than 0.005" runout) without all the concentricity tools... That's the stuff we do in class, as well as have all the fun tools for trimming etc. My next is in a couple of weeks and then I wont be doing anymore until mid Jan or late Feb when I get back into town..

Lynn, I took your beginner class, and have to admit I learned a lot. So far, I seem to be a slow learner. I did some of the things in the class just because we were told to do them. Only now am I figuring out why. At some point, I'll feel ready for a more advanced class. There was so much to take in during the first class. And having never reloaded before a lot to learn to do it safely. I may elect to sit in on the class again (gotta love RDA for allowing that). I am sure a lot of stuff went right over my head in the first class. It was a great class, sometimes the students are just slow (like me)! And since my primary interest is reloading .308 and .223, I'm sure I can always pick up pointers.
