Match primers are more consistent in the amount of fire they produce. That means the same amount of power is lit every time so the pressure curve and burn of powder will be more consistent giving you less extreme spread of velocity at the muzzle and a tighter group down range. A by product of the consistency is that Match (Federal Term) or Bench Rest (CCI Term) primers are slightly colder than their non Match equivalent.
