I might do the same just to learn from it... Maybe I will start with the that Palmetto receiver, for like $60... My biggest fear is that gun parts could be like car parts. i.e. the price of the pieces exceeds that of the whole. And I am not sure at what level I want to buy all the parts for. Like a lower parts kit, seems better than buying all the parts individually. I think you are right, this will be a good winter project to do the research on!
