Hey everybody, So I am in a internal debate. I am looking to return into competitive shooting sports, I originally planned on building a .223 and a 7.62 NATO. However in order to get all my necessary gear, I am thinking of just doing one initial build for my rifle. I like the idea of the lighter .223, but I really think I should go with the .308/7.62. I usually do most of my hunting Archery, and don't turn to my rifle very often. However, I want to option. I mean for the competition side, if there are any shots over 600 yards I can know more reliably I can perform longer range shots with the .308

Also, I don't have much fatigue from holding a .308 in the various positions. I ran through a typical competition setting with a 13.5 lbs .308 semi-auto. That's not including the scope, I don't know how much that added. Main point is holding it up never became an issue, or impacted my performance.

So being more confident with a .308 for distance. As well it being a better option for hunting, if I have the chance to hunt beyond my normal area, I like that I will have a rifle with options for a larger variety of game.

So I am looking at shooting an ambi- option rifle, as I am left eye dominant. Has anyone performed a build like this, with a free float barrel, 15" handguard, 20-24" barrel, decent match grade trigger, and a PRS style adjustable buttstock.
Again with ambi- or left handed parts.
Does anyone have a rough guess on the cost, and any reason that I should go for the .223/5.56 instead?
Really willing to take any advice, and anyone's rough idea on a cost. I dont know how much a LH or Ambi build will cost, and if I should just buy a pre-built option?
Thanks Everybody,
James
