When it comes to the chokes there are 2 things one is at bristol and most other shot gun ranges. There is as patterning board. Where you can place up a piece of paper. And fire one shell at it, than you can try again with another choke. Or shell to get an idea of how it is hitting. When it comes to what she'll it depends what birds you are looking to hunt. It goes from dove to Turkey. But with a lot if hunting rounds you can't shoot trap with them. So you want to get something that says target on it. Than comes the whole idea of shot size. Normally the idea the larger the shot size the less deformation in the round which equates to a more uniform patterning, I believe. I think in the end it seems more like it comes down to prefference. Ultimately people say you should pick one brand and size and stick with it. But in reality most people including myself buy what us on sale
