Upon many different threads i have read on this very subject, speaking with my brother and a family friend (retired military and armorer)and getting information from one of my brother friends (who just happens to be a barrel maker) i find that other than a slight cleaning, barrel break in procedures, if they really existed, just help to wear out the barrel faster.
I guess you can take all of this like a grain of salt since most people are not competition shooting. I just keep it clean and move on. Here are some things that I have read in the past and you may have already come across them.

"The militarys take on new barrels. install. shoot 10 rounds to ensure it will group and then rack it until needed".

I have only built about 7 AR's and now I am helping several others build units. My brother....well thats a different story. From Aks to ARs to well...just a host of items, he has done and is doing a lot in this field.

Oh yeah... I am not and expert...just a hobbiest who tends to over research the $hit out of everything.

Just my two cents worth..
