Well, the issue comes up now if you have to leave the firearm in the car. Let's say you have you are carrying and you stop at the post office. You can't take the firearm in USPS, so now you need to leave the firearm in the car. It must be locked and unloaded, therefore, taking the mag out, and the chambered round, and putting that in the center console, and locking the car doors will make you compliant with the law.
