One need only go into the city and see all the deer in the forest preserves. There is model airplane field at Cumberland and Irving Park roads. There must be at least a herd of 40 deer in that small preserve. If I can count 18, I am guessing there are at least double that. At some point they become a huge problem, being hit by cars, or just spreading out into the urban environment. Herds of wild life must be managed, because we have eliminated all their natural predators. At some point, you see dead ones as they have exhausted the food supply of a small plot of land.
