hmmm... I think when you rack the shell, that has deterrent value. Nothing says RUN like that sound. I still prefer a pistol for home defense, but a shotgun will take down someone every time.
I guess I am old fashioned. I don't keep a round racked in the shotgun. I do keep a round in the pipe with the pistol, but I do leave the manual safety on. I am always concerned with wall penetration. I have neighbors within 50 yards. And the standard construction walls around here offer no ballistic protection. I am using hollow points, in the hopes that a couple walls would break them up. Am I right in that?
