The cost of $150 for all that is being provided is reasonable. Age, I find is less of determinate factor as is number of rounds put through it. I suppose I have been lucky in that I have never worn out a firearm.
I know some old grizzled veterans that swear by their Colt 1911. I recently had a old guy, had to be in his 80's next to me at McMiller. I was shooting my Remington 1911 R1 Enchanced and he asked if he try it. I was only to happy to have him try. He easily put all 8 rounds in the center at 15 yds. Said, to me nice shooter, but will it last as long as a Colt. My only response was 'time will tell'. He told me about his time in Korea, and how he relied on his 1911 a lot as many times where he was they ran out of rifle ammo.
My best guess is the pistol fired approximately 15,000-20,000 rounds a year for about 25 years and about 5000 a year since. Same with a Gen1 G17 that's never had a problem. Dang! Now that I said that, I'll expect it to blowup in my hands next week.
Many of us may remember our mom, dad or grandparents telling us it use to cost a nickel to see a movie at a theater. I don't have any of my own kid's, if I did I would be telling them that it use to cost $10 to shoot at ranges all day and nobody ever had to wait or reserve time to shoot. Ammo was dirt cheap even if you didn't work in the industry for over 25 years.
Eventually even with the cost of gas I'm going to have to check out Mc Millers for an all day shoot.
