My thought process was a little different in the stop. The last thing I wanted the officer to see as I reached for my wallet, is my firearm, could cause all the wrong issues, so I spoke up. I figure I don't want to mention the words gun, firearms or weapon, so I decided to tell him I have a valid CCL. And ask him how he wanted to proceed. I do agree with you on the second nature part. But realize officers have to deal with all kinds. Why not be extra cooperative with law enforcement?
