The laws in IL are pretty good with regard to Castle Doctrine. It's one thing they got right. I wouldn't recommend trying to "stage" anything.

Any attempt to do that would likely make it look like you had something to hide and/or it was premeditated. Like Mike said, they would pick you apart in court.
