What do plan on doing with a .454, are planning on hunting big game or looking for a powerhouse for the range?

I've been shooting a 6" Ruger Security Six for several years. It's the model that Ruger had prior to releasing the GP 100. Great shooter, wouldn't give it up for anything other than another 686 or Python. I've fed my .357's everything on the market and then some. Never had a problem or need to replace a part on any Smith, Ruger Colt or Dan Wesson.

I also have a Charter Arms Undercover and a Bulldog that I picked up used use 25-30 years ago. I picked it up as about a 3.5", had it cut to less than 2" and basically rebuilt the entire gun including bead blasting, hammer bobbed, and completely refinished. I haven't shot many rounds through it but enough to say it's held up. The Undercover has had several thousand rounds of 38 special through it along with a few hundred +P's. the original Undercover, and Bulldogs have a much lighter frame than the ones built today. If anyone is looking for a lower priced revolver, I definitely would go with a Charter rather than Taurus or a few others out there.

If money and firepower isn't a deciding factor, no doubt I'd buy a 629, I just don't see myself having a need for a .454, if I did I'd, I would no doubt go with a Smith 500.
