I've personally been considering getting one of the 16" versions like seen in that video. The 16" version is darn accurate, too. Rob Ski was easily ringing steel at 600m with the same rifle seen in the video. It has a slight advantage in a SHTF scenario of being able to be used for CQB as it's carbine length. I think I would keep the stock and handguard that comes on it but refinish it a different color. I personally think a dark cherry wood stain would look good on it. The only real changes would be adding an optics mount and either a flash hider or muzzle brake. Here's what the unmodified 16" one looks like:
