I look at it from a prepper standpoint. I keep the bulk of it loose in .50 cal ammo cans because it's an easy way to store a lot of rounds, but I keep about 500 rounds of each caliber in 50 round boxes because they are easier to stuff into a pocket or backpack if you need to move and can't take the weight.
