CCL Class for prior reservists? - jfergus7 - 10-10-2014

Alright a question for all the prior reservists that have taken the IL CCL class. Were you able to do just the 8 hour version as opposed to the 16? As a prior Marine Reservist I don't have a DD214 because we don't get them. What other proof can I provide to get out of taking the full 16 hour class?

Per the state of Illinois, A dd214 is all we can accept for the first 8 hours for military service. Having that said, the i'm sure you will learn something in the first 8 hours. We do a really good job at RDA with training.

Ya it is really a bunch of crap. 8 years in and no CCL credit for it.

I've been shooting since 1984. Almost exclusively rifles. And once in awhile a handgun. The first class is OK. It will hold your interest. Especially if you don't shoot revolvers very often. It is really stupid that the State of Illinois doesn't recognize all military service as credit for the first 8 hours. All the more reason to be rid of Quinn and all democrats.

I have to say RDA's instructors try very hard to make the class interesting to all levels and all interests.

Thumbs up

If anything, the first class is a good refresher!
