CCW question - Mike25 - 10-05-2014 Quick question for everyone. I work in a building that is a GFZ. I don't carry back and forth to work just because I would ned to disarm, etc once I get to work. I only have a 21 mile commute each way and never stop anywhere on the way to or from work. So, my question is, for those who work in a building that is GFZ or a company that is GFZ do you carry just during your commute? RE: CCW question - mikereddot - 10-05-2014 Sorry, I work at a place that is open carry. I leave from private property to private property, so sometimes do open carry when I go to work. (i know it's not open when I'm driving)
RE: CCW question - Mike25 - 10-05-2014 You don't count
RE: CCW question - Ringo3632 - 10-06-2014 Haha I would probably carry one in the car. You could probably get a nice easy set up to store it in the car while working. Maybe a safe under the seat. That's what I'm planning on since my work is a GFZ as well... RE: CCW question - RJDSRT - 10-06-2014 I also do not have this problem
RE: CCW question - largefarva - 10-25-2014 Since I've received my license in the first week of March, I have carried every time I leave the house with one sole exception of when we had to go to my wife's bosses house for a party her boss threw. Other than that one time I have carried each and every time I step foot out of the house. I can't carry at work but I do leave it in my truck and in a locked box. I too, never stop at any place usually, but there are 2-3 places along my 11 mile route where I could be forced to stop (stop signs or lights) and is an opportunity for a car jacking if somebody were inclined to attempt. So to answer the OP's question....you betcha I carry to and from work even though I can't carry while actually at work. (Although my employer is pro-2A as well as our HR director so maybe the will change someday) RE: CCW question - jfergus7 - 10-25-2014 I don't carry yet because I haven't gotten my license but I will soon as I do. I know you say you never stop between work and home but I would rather be prepared. You never know when an accident or traffic jam or construction will put you in a potential position where you may need it. A nice gesture to help a little old lady on your way home could easily lead to something. For the few seconds to arm yourself and vice versa why take the chance. Just my $.02 RE: CCW question - Dutz - 10-25-2014 I work from home, so yes I carry. ![]() Sharz, my wife, approached her company, etc. about changing the policy and the HR person was, let's be kind and say, not receptive. She takes Metra downtown so she would have to "transport" instead of "carry". We are still contemplating how she could work out the logistics of that and storage at work. The sad part is Metra is the one place she needs it the most. RE: CCW question - mikereddot - 10-28-2014 Having unloaded on the train is still better than not having it. RE: CCW question - Glasssmith - 12-16-2014 I carry EVERYWHERE. But if I could not, I lock it in the center counsel of my vehicle. Can't remember the last time I did that. I'm retired and yet to get my cc, I should have it in hand within a few months. Even without a cc I usually travel with one in my vehicle with a magazine stored seperatly to stay legal. The type of security chosen for your vehicle could partly be based on the neighborhood you work and also how high on the list is your car of one that is stolen. I agree with one of the other posts, you still must stop at red lights or train tracks. let us know when you decide and how you choose to secure it. I will have the same problem due to working in a GFZ building. RE: CCW question - Brian S - 12-17-2014 (12-17-2014, 08:08 PM)Freedoms1791 Wrote:(12-17-2014, 07:46 PM)Brian S Wrote: Nice setup! I do need to find a small safe for the car though. I ones at those biometrics, but I think I'm leaning towards a little more old fashioned that just locks under the seat. Not sure yet though. |
