Does anyone have one of these or an opinion on a milled receiver AK?
I am thinking I may want an AK, and this seems to be an obvious choice.

I don't have that one. I do have a stamped yugo underfolder. Great gun. It had a small problem with a spring that went bad, but it was a easy fix

They're great guns when you can find them. The Yugo guns are awesome too. We usually have the M70B1 in stock.

Do you prefer the molded plastic stocks or the wooden ones? AK's seem pretty damn heavy with a full 30 round magazine.

I have an under folder so it doesn't weigh to much. But I am becoming a bigger believe in plastic due to weight. If I get another one I would drop the wood for plastic

I'd agree with the traditional wood on an AK. That's exactly what I plan to pick up! I've been looking at the Century Arms recently... The N-PAP HI-CAP was featured in a magazine I like and I've been wanting it...

I am definitely leaning to the CIA C39 Classic w/wood furniture.
Maybe this January, if I can find one at a decent price. I am thinking, if I am going to buy an AK I want a milled receiver. And surprisingly the Wood Furniture (8.1lbs)weighs less than the plastic (8.2lbs)... But the plastic is $650 and the wood $672 on the internet...
But something about all black...

I am still thinking on the AK47, but if I decide I want one, this is going to be the one I buy. I have shot this model, its not loose like some of the others, and it is not awful on accuracy. Right now, I don't think I want to add another caliber (7.62x39) and yet another batch of magazines. I think this weapon, has much higher quality than typical AK's. So, now the only question really is do I really want an AK...

If you do decide to get it, i would recommend one of Texas Weapon Systems' replacement dust covers. They're railed for scope/optics mounting just as an AR upper would be. A buddy of mine has a M92 with one mounted on it and it is rock solid. They run for about $140. Here's the one you'd need for the C 39:

They also sell a replacement recoil spring guide wire for it that would run another $12 and I would recommend that as well, if doing the dust cover replacement. The reason being that stock ones can be bent out of shape when removing the dust cover. This would give you a spare in case that happened.

hmmm... given the state of my eyes today, optics are becoming more and more important... Does this dust cover retain retain the scope zero? I would have my doubts, but if it does it sure seems like a great optics system mounting.

My friend's M92 has no issue with maintaining zero and it kicks more than a full size AK does. I'm personally contemplating getting a M85 or a C39 pistol and putting one on it for a small varmint brush gun build. Here's a pic of the M92 he has that he bought from CNC Warrior to give you an idea of the size difference:

That's just a stock pic from CNC's site as I don't have a pic of his monster "handgun". As you can see it's the size of an AKS-74U. It's barrel length with the flash hider is 10.5". BTW, that's a Sig SB15 mounted on a side folding dummy AR buffer tube. The one he has actually folds to the left.
I don't know if you looked at the TWS gallery but they did some cool looking AK tactical builds.

I looked at the Texas weapons system and it didn't wow me. Expensive and the peep site wasn't great. Tech sites are really nice. They are a little cheaper and they are adjustable. I found a optics mount that sits on the gas tube, that I will probably get. Since it allows for a low mount which US good on an underfolder

Yeah, the TWS peep sight isn't great but since it's a standard 1913 rail any aftermarket variety will work. I'd personally put Magpul MBUS iron sights on one equipped with the TWS dust cover and a top railed handguard to backup an optic on the dc. I don't like to have optics too far forward on a weapon, which is one of the weaknesses of the AK platform in my opinion. A semi-auto version of the AK-12 should prove interesting, if we ever get to see it here, as it comes with a railed dust cover from the factory.

Last night I was watching some firearms videos on YouTube. One of the videos had these two lunatics doing what they termed a brutal review of the C39 "pistol" with a Sig brace. One of the tests they did had them run it over multiple times with a Chevy Tahoe. The thing still fired after that and accurately to boot.

I had seen the C39 with 2 other AK variants at the range the day I shot it. It was more accurate, seemed of way better quality, and seemed to align perfectly. If I buy an AK it will be this model with wood furniture. I does seem to be really well made compared to the other two I shot. This is nothing against the other two, they were good weapons too, I just though the C39 was of much higher quality, fit and finish. I'm already sold on it.

Like I said the fit, finish and ruggedness of the C39 seemed a couple levels higher than the other two AK's. It was more accurate, and I don't think it was any heavier than the other two. It certainly was tighter. If I buy an AK, it will be a C39. It seemed way ahead on quality.

Believe it or not, the guys in that video actually like the CAI AK63D better than the C39.
