Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - Ringo3632 - 09-17-2014 I've been debating between the Tagua Horizontal Holster that RDA is getting in, and the Vertical Holster from Stoner Leather.. Anyone have any likes or dislikes for Horizontal vs. Vertical? http://stonerholsters.com/Concealed-Carry-Options/Shoulder-Holsters/stormer-vertical-shoulder-holster-with-tie-down http://www.taguagunleather.com/new/sh4-shoulder-holster-p22 RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - RJDSRT - 09-18-2014 Max has some experience with the shoulder rigs, I do not. Ill let him know you asked RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - AcilletaM - 09-28-2014 I'm curious about this too RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - Ringo3632 - 09-28-2014 This is another one I was looking at too. The nice thing about this one is you can assist from horizontal to vertical and switch out the holster part to work with any gun (they have a long list at least). http://shop.captain-itch.com/1-Shoulder-Holster-Rig-Adjustable-Shoulder-Holster-Rig.htm RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - RJDSRT - 09-29-2014 Maaaaaaaxxxxxxxxxxx... RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - MMR226 - 09-29-2014 good evening! so the shoulder rig of choice all depends on what you will be carrying and what you will be wearing. more often than not i carry my sig 226, which is one hell of a wide gun. even with a thick flannel on, when i carry from the shoulder with a horizontal rig i still print. the thinner the gun, the more likely you will be able to carry horizontally unnoticed. if im just at the shop or working out in the yard it is perfect, but when it comes to conceal-ability i prefer a vertical leather rig, either tagua or galco. another key thing to mention is tie down straps. if you are broad shouldered tie downs can really aid in keeping the holster as close to the body as possible, masking a print or bulge buy using your body's natural profile. unfortunately, much like many expensive things in the firearm world, it is all about trial and error and finding what works best for your needs during different situations. please keep in mind (if you are new to carrying from the shoulder) that it takes a completely different mindset when it comes to drawing and re-holstering. you have to remember that your gun will be on the opposite side of your dominant hand, so be mindful of your muzzle discipline when others are in your general area. dont want to be THAT GUY who sweeps everyone in the room. if you have any more questions feel free to call the shop, or post them on the forum! RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - Ringo3632 - 09-29-2014 I much prefer a vertical holster... however, I can't seem to find many that support the XDs 3.3. besides the two that I've mentioned. Unless I'm missing something on their websites? Either way I'm interested in seeing the Tagua XDs Shoulder holster, which I believe is horizontal, when you guys get it in (that's the rumor anyway). But I have noticed that it's much different with the shoulder holster in general from an IWB or Paddle holster. I've used all to some degree, and the Shoulder rig is just the easiest for me to have in most situations. RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - MMR226 - 10-09-2014 just a heads up ringo, we recieved the xds shoulder rigs from tagua the other day. you should stop in and check them out. they are nice! RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - Ringo3632 - 08-18-2015 Is there any particular reason for having a closed bottom shoulder holster?? I feel like that will just collect dust and garbage. RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - Ringo3632 - 08-19-2015 Hahaha that way in case of an accidental discharge you could just pull it out after it cools down and reload it! Good info. I have not even considered a rig such as this. I may have to re-visit this type of rig. RE: Vertical or Horizontal Shoulder rig? - Ringo3632 - 08-19-2015 If you to stoner holsters, they have a video on how to set up a shoulder rig to be comfy. I like their vertical set up, but idk how I feel about the closed bottom, and I don't have $200 for it... |
