I've been following this. Very sad. Reports now are 13 dead, at least 20 wounded. The shooter, a 20 year old male, was killed in an exchange of gunfire with the first responding officers.
My thoughts are with the families affected.

Indeed. Local news stations have mentioned the only way to prevent this sort of thing is armed security guards.
How about armed teachers and students?

OK OK OK I AM TIRED OF THIS $HIT! This Town call Roseburg is where I live. UCC (Umpqua Community College) is in my water district. I just wish one, just one news source would get it right....
We do not know how many are confirmed dead or wounded. It was a 20 yr old man. It is a gun free zone, but yes I can carry my CCW as long as it is not flaunted. This young man via the link i posted voiced his actions before he did it In fact if you read the link he acted out what someone told him to do. He had them line up and he shot them. Next year is going to be one hell of a fight for our gun rights....

We all know these shootings can be stopped only one way.... Let people use their 2A rights. We all know its the only way. Taking my gun away won't stop a bad guy.

A good friend of ours works at UCC but she took the day off to go to the coast with her husband on his BD. UCC is sort of a gun free zone. They have stated several times that they do not want you on campus with your guns. My CCW trumps their wishes as I refuse to cave into this stuff. So for the most part, bedsides there only being one unarmed security guard, there were no CCW's on campus, or at least that I have heard from. This tragedy could have been prevented!

I agree with the sheriff on not releasing that asshat's name. There's no need to make him famous or infamous. I'd also like to tell Obozo where to stick his gun ban and blaming the NRA, among other things, but I don't want to get banned. Instead I'll just pray for the families that lost their loved ones.

I agree with not releasing the name. I hope this sets a precedent for any unfortunate future acts on this and many other topics.

Something did change. We decided we wanted a society that had a separation of church and public places.
We erroneously concluded the "state" was all public places. Then we erroneously concluded "separation" meant removal of religious influence.
Then we decided we couldn't publicly teach the ten commandments because they were "religious".
Seriously?
Don't kill, don't steal, respect your parents, and be faithful to your wife is "religious"?
Well then, welcome to the separation of church and state. Not so pretty is it?

In the 1970's the Democrats emptied the Mental Health Hospitals and tossed all the inmates on the street. People seem to forget who CAUSED this problem. George McGovern and his Supreme Court case that basically said the mentally dangerous cannot be dealt with until they commit a crime. Couple mentally unstable, along with "Sitting Duck Zones" and other anti-gun policies and you have this as a result.
We can have Freedom or we can have a Nazi type big government embraced by the socialist types.

Well he came, they locked down our small city, people protested, and he left. No grandstanding, no public agenda pushing to the public, and everything remained peaceful. We actually had about 2k protesters out there and remember that there are only about 21k in the City abut about 35k total in the surrounding rural section.
