Politicians can say what they want and come up with any statistics they want with percentages, numbers and "facts"....but in the end, an unarmed public is open to oppression and in some countries violent death. Just look at Boko Haram, ISIS, Al Qaeda, etc to name a few. Or was Obama referring to "civilized" countries only?

The 2nd amendment is important but you have to remember there are lot of homicides.
