I have a Sig and Shield which I really like. My dad has a Glock that's pretty sweet too. I would love to shoot a Springfield someday. IMO, it's like buying a car, they are all nice, just depends what your preference is.

First handgun I ever shot was my uncle's service size .45 XD. I don't believe it was the XDm. Still was a fine, fun gun to shoot. Every time I go out to visit Washington I get him to let me borrow it for a day at the range =)

I love mine. I have an XDm in 45APC and a XD in .40S&W. Both are great guns that fit my hand.

I think they played a little too much "marketing gimmick" with their designs. The backstrap safety for example... zero functional purpose. The backstrap safety on a striker-fired gun offers no protection if you drop the gun because the gun has no hammer... with or without that safety, if you drop the XD's they will not fire because of internal safeties. It also offers no form of safety on the draw because the first thing you do when drawing the gun is deactivate that safety. So.... what is it really doing for the gun? (besides offering an additional part that can malfunction). If you're going to draw the gun with your finger in the trigger guard, you could get hurt either way. Alien ALSO- try to cycle your action without engaging the backstrap safety... notice it wont function. So if that safety malfunctions, you now have a paperweight. Undecided

The striker indicator?... not necessary. You have a loaded chamber indicator, if that is indicating you have a round chambered, your striker is set. There is no possible way to chamber a round without setting the striker - so adding the striker indicator is just adding a part that can break for no reason AND could potentially lead you to believe that you have a round chambered but you might not because it IS possible to set the striker without chambering a round. So if someone only checked the striker indicator and assumed they had a round chambered... could be a bad thing.

BUT it does wonders for advertising to have all the Cadillac frills on it! Thumbs up
Sorry

I like the guns, but I feel that springfield could be a little more true to their customers and sell them on quality guns instead of useless features.

I love the Springfield XD's. A Glock just feels so cheesy, with the plastic trigger, no weight, and looks the part too. The only thing I like about a Glock is the rear serrations that allow an easy slide pull. As to accuracy, I find the XD is superior at 100 yds. I admit the Glock doesn't feel right in my grip. It's a fine gun, but I'll take an XD anyday of the week. The sights on an XD are superior in my book period. The cleaning is equal.

The Springfield just feels like a quality made gun. But I think you cannot go wrong with either Glock or Springfield. Buy the one that is most comfortable for you. Heck I might have to buy a 9mm Glock 17, even though I hate 9mm, and think the Springfield is a far better value.

As opposed to the...plastic... XD trigger?....Alien

They're all made to be light weight... Big Grin

Pistols at 100 yards? Can't say I have tried that Huh

What good is a gun you don't shoot? If you don't shoot it, it's nothing more than an expensive paperweight. And a Glock is so light, it isn't even a good paperweight...Tongue

I love my Springfields, but right now I have a new love in my life, the FNS-9... Have taken out to McMiller 3 times now. It really grows on you. I never liked 9mm before, but I am having an appreciation for this gun. The only draw back is the Magazine prices. It comes with 3, but I always like 4 mags.

I have to give Ryan a shout out for making me hold this gun and recommending it. It's a keeper.
