Any one here own a tri star or shot one. they seem to be the cheapest option for me to get a double in 16. I am only seeming reviews on the sa but not so much on the ou. Didn't know if any one had any experience with them
We've sold a bunch, and have never heard anything bad about them. We've a several guys come in looking for one because they shot their buddies and loved it.
Cool I have seen the ones in the store and they seemed nice. But it's always hard to get a feel for a gun with out shooting it. And they make one in 16 which is awesome.
They are actually decent guns. The lockup is tight, they cycle very reliably and they are relatively inexpensive. I don't think you would be disappointed with one.
I am thinking my second shotgun will be a Tristar Tec-12 Tactical Auto 12 GA 20", Black. Seems to fit what I am looking for well. Price seems very reasonable for what you get. Anyone have one of these?

They shot their buddies?!?
What a difference a possessive apostrophe can make.
"buddie's"
You run out of buddies doing that...
I will let you know what I think of it. I pulled the trigger so to speak on a TriStar Tec-12 semiauto/pump 12G. I loved the sights on it and the action seems tight enough. I will take her out next week and report back!

Where ya takin 'er?
I took her yesterday to McMiller... I put maybe 20 rds of #6 2.75" shells and a few #7.5 through her and three rifled slugs at 100yd range. The Tristar is different sounding. Can't really tell you what to compare it too, but it has a distinctive sound.
The manual says not to run "Heavy" loads in pump mode, and that their might be issues with "Light" loads in semi-automatic. I am a noobie shotgun gun guy, and I found no definition of Light and Heavy loads in the manual. I am assuming it means 3" shells for Heavy loads, and maybe like 7.5/8 for 2.75" shells? In any case, I only had 2.75" with me. It worked fine in semi-auto just fine for all the birdshot, and I didn't try the slugs in pump mode.
The sights were dead on. It's harder to follow through with clays with it. But I really am liking the sights. Last point, you really need to clean this before taking it out, as it comes with a heavy coating of oil. It seems reasonably well made. I do like the option of semi-auto or pump.
And Ryan, if you'd like to try out the Tristar Tec12, we can arrange a range time to do so.
Sounds like a cool gun, so it seems pretty well made than?

I'd say so for a modern tactical shotgun. It's not heavy. The metal parts seem well machined and fit together nicely. Of course there is a lot of plastic (slide, stock, etc), but it seems well made. I think the quality is better than my 870, but that is a good shotgun too. For the price I think it is a bargain. You could pay hundreds more for a shotgun with the same features.

How do you like the pistol grip on it?

Yes, at first I didn't think I would, but it is very comfortable. The grip makes it fast on target as well.
