So i have heard talks that Sig will be discontinuing the P250 Modular weapons. Any 250 owners want to weight in on pros and cons to that design? I personally like the idea of switching out the components but i have yet to see anyone order up alternate kits. Correct me if i am wrong but Sig rolled out a few new modular designs at Shot Show IIRC.
I was talking to a US Marshal who was looking for a new Sig to carry off duty. I suggested the 250, he told me that they had considered them for their duty weapons on the airlines but the guns failed their comprehensive testing and started to break. Thats good enough for me to stay away from them. I like the idea but apparently they have some issues to work out, maybe part of the reason for discontinuing the series?
i wonder which part specifically was breaking on them? sig is still pretty new to the polymer market in the grand scheme of things.

im curious as to the manufacturing process of the chassis. the trigger seems to be just kind of thrown in there and doesnt seem to have the rigidity of say my 226 or a 228.

I have full size P250 9mm which I really like. I probably have around 2k rounds through it with maybe one issue. I really have no desire to take advantage of the modularity options as my EDC will be a Shield. Basically it's my HD gun. Easy to field strip and goes bang when I pull the trigger. I do have the latest generation, from what I've heard/read there was some issues with the previous generation. I don't really have enough experience to compare it to any other full size 9mm.
Sig has suggested that they will be adding to their modular lineup with the sig p320, which is the same concept as the 250 but is a striker fired design. I heard somewhere back around shotshow that it would be compatible with the p250 platform, but i don't know to what extent.
Most of the problems with the p250 were from the first generation line that featured a weaker plastic, plastic guide rod, and proprietary sig rail. The gun felt chintzy and was likely to have the polymer frame parts wear down causing the modular rail caddy piece and other pieces to fit loosely, leading to a host of other problems. The second generation of p250's remedied these problems and made a solid pistol. I imagine if you change the frame all the time in the 2nd gen, they would eventually wear out as well.
Sig had a similar problem with their SigPro 2020 (short lived piece of trash) which was replaced by the SP2022 (great budget Sig).
