Poll shows 'school choice' gaining ground

I just saw this news cast saying that School Choice is bad. That it is a scheme for people who want to take money from the school that perfectly love their public school. They are totally missing the point. No one is saying that people are FORCED to choose another type of school. That is why it is called School CHOICE! The choice is for a variety of different schools too... not JUST Charter Schools. Homeschool, private, etc... are part of that too. If you hear this crap from someone, please SCHOOL them and tell them that they are repeating the rhetoric from the people who want to keep all the money in their public schools, without regard that different types of education works differently for every child. If public school works for them... fine. Stay! For my children, it was homeschool. Don't believe the media and what they are telling you what it is. They are narrow minded and fear mongers. Off my soap box now... Thumbup
Both of my boys went to private school as far as they could (the Catholic School stop at 7th grade for my oldest and 6th grade for my youngest) then on to public. It was a challenge for them in the public system since they were already 2 -3 years ahead of the public system when they entered it. What an issue that presented. Both of them went on to college where they maintained their conservative values. Even though the system is left leaning, they saw how messed up the system was in college and this help to keep them aligned with their core values. Now they are both off onto solid careers!
You got them in good teaching in their fundamental years. Good JOB, Bradberry!

Even though people try to tell you that you need the public school setting to get into college... that is a false claim. I am telling you that they are seeking out kids that are for a school choice option. The standardized tests (ACT, SAT) are implementing common core instruction in them, but there are other national options that are more rigorous and accurate than these tests. They are fairly new, but schools that are open to other school alternatives, are accepting them more and more.

Both of my kids are going to college with scholarships and my oldest is in the honor society and the top 3... (I think she said) in her graduating class this spring.

That is the way to rock their world! Great job! Whether they know it or not, the path, as long as they continue, will be tough but it comes with its rewards!
