Alligator Gar are being repopulated in the fish's old territory range to combat the invasive Asian Carp. The gar were basically exterminated in the areas now overrun by the carp because people thought they hurt game fishing in those areas. Apparently, fishery experts have noticed that the gar have a sweet tooth for the carp. I found this an interesting divergence from the other stories in the news lately.
