Is The Second Amendment Only About Militias?

The idea, often espoused by anti-gun leftists today, that the 2nd Amendment only covers militia service and purposes, is clearly incorrect for a couple of reasons, even without getting into what was meant by the terms “well regulated” and “militia.”
Even though I agree with the author philosophically, his question is irrelevant.

A militia is nothing more than the gathering of civilians with guns. They "gather" when a community problem arises that is solved with firearms. The civilians gather from their homes carrying their personal firearms and incur their own expenses. In the old west term, it is a posse.

In order for the militia to be "well regulated" which means "proper working order", or more simply put, each guy knew how to use his gun, each guy needed own his own gun to work on learning to use it.

So "only militia" makes no sense since that includes every adult person already.

Red Dot is where we go today to join the ranks of the well regulated. Smile
Why is it that there is so much confusion as to what the second amendment says, and all the hand wringing over what the founders meant. Its pretty straight forward... for example when George Mason was asked who the militia were he replied "they are the whole of the people". Wow its really not that complicated!!!
Militia has been defined for a long time in LAW. US Code, Title 10 has defined this for 200 plus years. Militia is all those capable of bearing arms. In the day when the Constitution was written the governments (state and federal) didn't provide arms. The people were expected to bring their own arms. And the term regulated meant the quality of supplies that the states might supply.

It was understood for 130 years that PEOPLE had the right (if not duty) to bear arms. The Second Amendment is not about hunting or self defense, it is about 'We the people'... being able to oppose a tyrannical government with FORCE should the need arise. Without the Second Amendment government could easily take away our rights as we would have no means to defend against that.

This coming election may be the difference between Liberty and Freedom and the democrats desire to turn us into a fascist, socialist state. I for one do not want to tell my grand children about America when men were free. I plan to pass down a free America to them.
