Millennials and socialism: What's the attraction?

Many think it is about the free college since the debt for it is so high and the prospects for jobs is so low. The education price is no longer meeting the career pay.
None of them grew up when the Soviet Union was still about. They've also been brought up to expect things and grades without having to put effort in. I remember looking through my daughters school history book, and was astonished how many facts were wrong. None of them know socialism/communism leads to death of spirit and slavery. I don't known what can change this.

Send kids on field trips to Cuba or North Korea?
or even more shocking, tell them Facebook and Twitter aren't allowed in Cuba and North Korea!
Ignorance.

This is the most uneducated generation we have produced. Their knowledge of politics and war equals that of grade school kids just two generations before.

When I was 10 I watched the Nixon-McGovern debates and my personal political views began forming then. It was not just me, I had actually debates about the race with my fellow students while playing hopscotch. We were all engaged.
I think kds love free stuff. They don't understand (or care) that someone will eventually have to pay for all of their free goodies.
Rome? Venezuela? I just watched a Vice video about their recent elections (yes, they had blatant electioneering at the poll site), but the Chavistas were finally handing out keys to poor folks to move into new high-rise tenements, loudly reminding them how grateful they should be! It was sad, painful, and concerning to watch, and that this country can easily go the same way. Most millenials don't even know their system of government, who the VP is, or who their local rep's are, which in many cases affect them more dearly than any President would. Sadly, it's not just Millenials that don't know the basics as well.
I forget who conducted the poll but I read a story after the 2008 campaign that said somewhere around 30% of Obama voters know what the issues of that campaign were contrasted to 80+% of McCain voters. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bigger gulf in that poll today.
