2016 Regular Session to Convene TODAY on SB 14

The state legislature is once again set to consider Senate Bill 14, important legislation that would recognize a law-abiding gun owner’s ability to possess a concealed firearm in a vehicle without first obtaining a government-issued permit. SB 14 passed out of the state Senate last year before it stalled in the state House of Representatives during the final hours of the 2015 regular legislative session. The primary opponents to the passage of SB 14 are a handful of Alabama sheriffs. It is imperative that you contact your Sheriff and respectfully urge him or her to support Senate Bill 14.
It is a money thing for the sheriffs. They get $15/year for each permit. The current law allows open carry without a permit, but as soon as you enter a vehicle, then it becomes a conceal weapon.
