We've entering a danger zone. If a republican doesn't get elected we're in deeper Schidt than we are now.
He's not a socialist by definition - which advocates people can't own private property -- I'm sure Bernie doesn't want that! I'd say Social Security is like a socialist idea, and other like systems. If we didn't have "socialist" programs like that, there most likely would be a lot more destitute seniors and perhaps crime. I for one would not want to rely on the "goodness" of others for my welfare when I'm old. At one time I thought I'd like to be off the SS program and be able to manage it myself via investments, etc. It might work for some folks, but the majority of folks really need that retirement money. Hopefully it's still around in 15-20 years when I'm ready to use it.
Socialism does not reject private property. Communism rejects private property. Socialism allows theft from the productive people to support the parasites of society. Social Security is a pyramid scheme, with a blended investment at ZERO return. Imagine people buying into an investment that pays them ZERO for 45 years on their money? Social Security pays out what it takes in to pay today's retirees. Their money went to past retirees. Like W's Part D medicare the people today paid NOTHING into it, but they live off people working today. Basically Social Security was a tax on future generations (who could not complain) to pay a benefit to someone today. Worse still people live longer, and SS gives raises (albeit tiny now). SS says people exhaust their (and their employers contributions) by age 72.33. That means that the money they saved at ZERO percent is gone, and now they life off someone else's dime (most would call it welfare).
Why not let people control their own retirement savings? Answer: because the pyramid scheme would collapse. It will anyway, it is just a matter of time.
BelieveIn is dead on. Anyone under 50 who is relying on SS or Government pension (or company pension, for that matter) for their retirement is in deep crap, and of their own making.
Your private retirement funds/accounts should be your primary source.
And if someone like Sanders becomes president, your 401K won't be worth squat either.
And I would take BelieveIn's comment one step further, SS is a ponzi scheme and has always been so.
And I have less against Sanders, than a liar like Hillary. Sander comes right out and says he is a socialist. Hillary's policies are actually to the left of Sanders! She is the classic Tax and spend liberal. Although she should be thought of a classic tax and buy votes with the money for the parasites of society.
Not that I would ever vote for either. But Bernie is clearly the more honest of the two.
As a fairly new US citizen, I have been privileged to vote in the last two presidential elections. I find it sad and disappointing that so many people know more about "celebrities" than the politics that affect their everyday lives.
